Hi! I'm Laura.

I am an independent thinker, a chaos tamer, a mother, a wife, a friend, a middle child and someone who loves a challenge. I am constantly evolving, learning, making mistakes and starting over. Opening up Birch Theory in August of 2025 has been one of my most exciting challenges yet.

I have always loved visiting gift shops around the globe and when the opportunity presented itself to open this one I said to myself "why not me?" When you look around the store you will see my personality throughout (creative, funny, sarcastic, modern, artistic, pragmatic, colorful). Everything I bring in is something that I would buy for myself or my friends and family as gifts. I love products that tell a story (even if that story is just "damn this chocolate tastes good!")

The Collection

I pride myself on hand-picking items with intention especially brands from woman owned, black owned, LGBTQ+ owned throughout the country. It makes me so happy when I can tell customers that a purchase gives back to the community so you will find many items like this in the store. And of course, I bring in local coffee roasters and artists as well.

The Community

Birch Theory is a place where all are welcome to shop, come in for a soda, have a seat on the couch, browse or just get a paw from Annie. As we continue to evolve, I plan on bringing more events and gatherings to inspire kindness, creativity and fun in our lovely city of Dover.
